Ammon News - Ammonnews - Jordan on Thursday is forecast to bake in a blazing heat wave that pushed mercury levels well above the annual average by almost 8 degrees Celsius, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.
The JMD issued a warning about direct sunlight exposure in much of the Kingdom, particularly in the Jordan Valley, Badia regions, and the southern port city of Aqaba. According to the department, strong gusts could reduce horizontal visibility in some areas of the country, particularly in the south and east.
In addition, the JMD urged individuals not to leave children unattended in closed vehicles and not to leave flammable or compressed materials inside.
According to the report, similar weather will persist on Friday, with clouds at high altitudes, and southeasterly moderate winds.
Today, mercury in the capital Amman will range between a high of 40 degrees Celsius and a low of 23C, while the port city of Aqaba will see a sweltering 42C, sliding to 29C at night. (Petra)
