Ammon News - The Cabinet Sunday approved an amendment to the eligibility criteria for the provision of electricity services in rural areas as part of the Rural Electrification Project, better known as the "Rural Fils" scheme.

The amendment aims to improve and streamline the services and procedures of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to serve Jordanians as part of the Rural Fils scheme.

The amendment includes the delivery of electricity to communities consisting of a minimum of five households at an average cost of JOD3,000 per house from the value of the low-voltage works only.

The Rural Fils scheme would bear an amount of JOD3,000 for each residence in the community as the cost of switching stations and medium voltage line if there is a need to install medium voltage lines and transfer stations.

The Cabinet also approved the renewal of the purchase of security and protection services for all ministries, institutions, government departments and government-owned companies directly from the Economic and Social Foundation for military retirees and veterans for one year.

The Cabinet agreed that the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group (JFDZ) would rehabilitate the Dead Sea Corniche and treat the damages that resulted from using it as a quarantine site for COVID-19 patients.
