Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Local Administration and Acting Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Tawfiq Krishan, on Sunday met with a number of representatives of international civil society organizations operating in Jordan.

The meeting comes within the framework of Ministry of Political and Parliamentary Affairs' keenness to align int'l bodies' programs and activities with Royal Committee to Modernise the Political System (RCMPS)'s outcomes and recommendations, especially in relation to women and youth sectors, according to its statement.

Krishan said women-youth political participation top government's goals, which were reinforced by the recent constitutional amendments, which dedicated separate articles for women- youth empowerment for the first time in Jordan's history.

The ministry's executive plan to implement the RCMPS's outcomes were approved by the Cabinet and circulated to all relevant ministries and institutions, he said.

The scheme, he noted, aims to turn RCMPS's recommendations on youth-women political and economic empowerment into action plans and programs for the concerned ministries until their implementation, as part of the government’s commitment to carry out RCMPS's outcomes.

Executive plans were prepared for each ministry to deal with these recommendations, he announced.

The government, he said, seeks to implement RCMPS's content, in cooperation and partnership with international and local civil society institutions, in a way that contributes to enhancing women-youth participation in Jordan's political life and spurring partisan program-based work.

In addition, Krishan stressed the ministry's commitment to implementing its plan to highlight RCMPS's outputs and enhance citizens' participation in political life, especially youth and women, within a specified timeframe.

This plan includes a series of activities to be implemented and seeks to outline a set of media materials aimed to raise public awareness of the legislation governing political life, the statement added.

Calling on int'l institutions to support implementation of RCMPS's recommendations, he said this future effort would be implemented by intensifying their programs and projects, aimed at stimulating engagement in political parties, especially youth and women and embracing ideas presented in the ministries' plans in this regard.
