Investments volume up by 69% over 6 months-Government

Ammon News - The volume of total investments that benefited from the Investment Law increased during the first half of 2022 by 69% to JD405.3 million, compared to JD239.7 million during the same period last year.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ministry of Investment said 202 projects benefited from the Investment Law, with an approximately expected 9,300 job opportunities that were created according to investors.

Volume of local investments amounted to JD300.6 million, which constituted 74.2% of the total investment volume, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, volume of foreign investments amounted to JD104.7 million, which constituted 25.8% of the total volume.

On distribution of total investments during first half of 2022 outside and inside development zones, investments outside these estates accounted for 94.3% of the total volume with investments worth JD382.1 million.

Whereas, investments within these zones accounted for 5.7% of the total investment volume, which stood at JD23 million.

As for investment distribution among the economic sectors, the ministry said the industrial sector garnered the largest share, as its investment percentage amounted to about 60% with an investment volume of JD243 million.

The tourism sector followed with a total investment volume of JD97.8 million, with a 24.1% rate, then came hospitals and specialized medical centers at JD35.5 million, or 8.8%, agriculture at JD18 million by 4.4%, and the remaining sectors accounted for 2.7% of the investments volume.
