Jordan, Egypt discuss ways to develop drug integration

Ammon News - Director-General of Jordan Food & Drug Administration (JFDA), Nizar Mheidat, discussed with head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), Tamer Essam, the challenges facing joint drug integration and the proposed solutions for developing policies and procedures to overcome related obstacles.
Mheidat's remarks came at a tour to the EDA's headquarters at the conclusion of a Jordanian official delegation's visit to Egypt, to participate in the activities of the first edition of Africa Health ExCon, according to a JFDA statement on Wednesday.
The discussions went over ways to enhance cooperation in the field of accelerating registration of Jordanian drugs and medical supplies and equipment in Egypt, the statement added.
In addition, the two sides said the pending issues will be examined by a joint technical committee to be held periodically and highlighted the possibility of reassessing prices of Egyptian drugs based on Jordanian market's needs.
At the meeting, which provided a number of important recommendations in this regard, the two sides stressed the importance of strengthening joint coordination and cooperation, encouraging exchange of technical expertise in similar biological industry and transferring expertise in lab reliability.
Noting JFDA's experience as a "leading" national reference body, Mheidat said its approved monitoring systems seek to ensure safety, quality and efficacy of foodstuffs, drugs and medical supplies.
