Secretary General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA) Abdullah Kanaan said Israel continues its war crimes and daily apartheid policy against Palestinian people and the occupied Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

In statements to "Petra" on Saturday, Kanaan noted the Israeli "systematic" incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif are intensifying, led and supervised by extremist Jewish Temple organizations, with the participation of thousands of settlers under protection of the Israeli security services.

These attacks are carried out, under the false pretext of holding Talmudic rituals, ultimately aimed to serve settlement political interests that seek to Judaize Jerusalem, displace Jerusalemites, change its Arab Islamic and Christian identity, he pointed out.

These serious incursions taking place in Al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, which are carried out by Jewish settlers, under Israeli authorities' protection and approval, reflect apartheid practices, he noted.

To defy Israel's escalation and continuous violation against Jerusalemites and Islamic and Christian holy sites, and settlement projects, RCJA affirms that the "painful global silence in the face of Israel’s failure to implement international legitimacy resolutions directly threaten Jerusalem's historical status quo and increases crimes against defenseless civilian Palestinians."

In this regard, he said the holy city's affairs and situation were run through the Hashemite custodianship that is universally supported, demanded, and necessary.

To make peace, he noted RCJA affirms His Majesty King Abdullah II's firm position calling for restoring the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establishment of their state on their occupied historical land, on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
