April saw 15 rumors down by 50% from a month earlier-Akeed

Ammon News - Rumors recorded in the Kingdom during April 2022 went down by 50%, reaching 15, compared to last March, the Jordanian Media Credibility Monitor, Akeed, said on Saturday.

The rumors reached the target audience via local media outlets, social platforms and smart phone applications, the monitor announced.

In its monthly report, Akeed said it had developed a "quantitative and qualitative" methodology to monitor rumors, defined as incorrect information, and related to a Jordanian public matter or interest, and reached more than 5,000 people, via digital media.

In an effort to stop rumors, security has recently arrested a suspect involved in promoting fake news on Facebook, the report pointed out.

In April, Akeed said 9 rumors on the economic field, which ranked first by 60%; public affairs came 2nd place with 3 rumors, by 20%, meanwhile 2 security fake news were registered by 13%. 1 political rumor was reported by 7%, while the health and social fields reported no fake news.

On their origin, 11 rumors emerged online, at 73% of all fake news tracked, 4 came from media sources at 27%, Akeed said.
