Lower House legal committee okays some elections bill clauses

Ammon News - The Lower House Legal Committee approved a slew of articles of the 2021 draft elections law, in its meeting held Sunday, and headed by MP Abdel Moneim Awdat, in the presence of the Minister of State for Legal Affairs, Wafa'a Bani Mustafa.

Awdat said the MPs began endorsing the bill's articles after listening to the views, observations and proposals from various political parties, civil society institutions and various sectors on the draft election law, within the committee's comprehensive national dialogue, launched more than two months ago.


In this regard, outcomes of this national dialogue are dealt with "accurately and diligently" to reach the "highest" levels of national agreement on the law, according to Awdat.


Later, the Lower House panel will convene to continue approving the draft election law's articles and submitting its version to the House to take the appropriate decision, he pointed out.
