Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and his Kuwaiti counterpart, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, held talks on Thursday in the Kuwaiti capital, to continue talks held in Amman recently on mechanisms to enhance bilateral cooperation and deepen coordination concerning regional issues, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The discussions aim to achieve "broader" horizons that reflect strength of the "historic, and strategic" relations between the two brotherly countries, according to a press statement issued by the ministry.
During the meeting, Safadi and Sheikh Ahmed affirmed willingness to launch "practical" steps to increase cooperation in the economic, commercial, investment and health fields, especially in light of the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Moreover, the two ministers reviewed the region's developments and ways to overcome regional challenges in a way that leads to resolving crises, achieving security and stability, and serving Arab issues and interests.
Stressing the centrality of the Palestinian cause, the duo affirmed the need to revive efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Emphasizing the interdependence of pan-Arab security, the two ministers voiced rejection of foreign interference in the affairs of Arab countries, adding that regional relations should be built, based on the principles of good neighborliness and mutual respect.
The duo also stressed the continued action with Arab brethren and the international community to combat terrorism and the culture of hate, which contradicts all human values and don't reflect the true Islamic religion and the values of peace and respect for the other.
Safadi and Sheikh Ahmed agreed to maintain joint coordination and contacts in their efforts to serve common interests and face current challenges.
