Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Director of the Prince Hamza Government Hospital Abdul Razzaq Al-Khashman said Saturday that 5 coronavirus cases are in critical condition in the health facility, 3 of them with kidney failure.

He told Petra this morning that 3 of those admitted, who were aged 34, 40 and 50, did not have preexisting conditions or medical records, but they began to severe complications with acute pneumonia and eventually have kidney failure and have to undergo dialysis.

Khashman said that the rapid deterioration of relatively healthy and young patients is a "dangerous indicator," predicting that the number of severe cases is expected to surge in the next few hours and days.

Regarding cases that recover from the disease, he said that after the patient has passed 12 days without symptoms, he/she stays in hospital for an additional 5 days, and then is discharged regardless of the result of the BCR test because the dead virus remains in their body for several months. This is done by testing the patient's RNA/DNA, and that the patient becomes not contagious in this case.

He called on the public not to question the existence or seriousness of the coronavirus, and to adhere to safety precautions, including physical distancing, avoiding gatherings, washing hands, wearing masks and using sterilizers.

Prince Hamza Hospital has been designated to isolate people infected with coronavirus since the outbreak of the pandemic.
