64 new Covid-19 cases, including 51 local infections, recorded on Wednesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Health, Dr. Sa'ad Jaber, announced 64 new Covid-19, including 51 local infections, were recorded on Wednesday, bringing the total caseload since the start of the pandemic to 2,161.

Speaking during a press conference at the Prime Ministry, Jaber said the imported cases involve 12 arrivals coming from Kuwait, the United States, and Palestine, and 1 infection to a person in a private hospital arriving from abroad.

As for the local cases, 26 were recorded in the capital-19 infections to contacts, 7 others are investigated- 17 in Zarqa governorate, 4 in Madaba, 2 in Balqa, 1 in Jerash, and 1 in Aqaba, added Jaber.

46 additional patients have recovered- 23 in Prince Hamzah Hospital, and 23 others in isolation sites, bringing the recovery cases so far to 1627, according to Jaber.

Over the past 24 hours, the investigation teams conducted 10,847 Covid-19 tests, bringing the total number of tests administered since the start of the pandemic to 850,088, he pointed out.

Since Friday, August 7, Jaber said 756 local infections were recorded, adding the numbers, which haven't "doubled," signals effectiveness of government measures.

Moreover, Jaber appreciated the "full" cooperation of the citizens, who contacted infected people, with the epidemiological investigation teams, in addition to the "tremendous" efforts made by the medical teams and laboratories working round the clock.

Jaber also called on citizens to shun gatherings, and celebrations that violate anti-Covid-19 instructions, and adhere to physical distancing and wearing face masks.
