Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Tuesday ordered the reformation of the committee tasked with updating and formulating the 2016-2025 Comprehensive National Plan for Human Rights.
The decision is in line with Jordan's commitment to fulfilling international treaty and other obligations and recommendations of national human rights watchdogs and achieving the sustainable development goals, a statement by the prime ministry said.
The committee is responsible for updating the plan according to a matrix linked to a timetable and performance indicators to address loopholes in legislation, policies and practices.
The efforts, according to the statement, aim to advance the human rights status and justice, taking into account the commitments the Kingdom made in this regard, and ensuring that the plan is consistent with national constants based on His Majesty King Abdullah's directives.
Al-Hayat Center (Rased), a non-governmental civil society rights and democracy institution, carried out a comprehensive evaluation of the plan, revealing that only 21 per cent of the activities set forth in the plan has been fully completed; 43 per cent is underway and 36 per cent has not started yet.
