Health Minister: 46 COVID-19 local infections

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Health Minister Saad Jaber said Monday that 68 new coronavirus cases were recorded in the Kingdom, including 46 local infections, bringing the caseload since the outbreak of the pandemic to 2,034.

Jaber told a press briefing at the National Center for Security and Crisis Management that 22 cases were recorded at hotels designated as quarantine sites for arrivals from abroad.

The local cases, he said, were 42 in Amman, including 40 contacts with individuals infected with the virus and two that are being investigated, and 4 in the Zarqa Governorate. He said that 43 COVID-19 patients recovered at the Prince Hamza Government Hospital in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,525, and 456 are still being hospitalized.

He said that 664 infections with the virus have been recorded in the Kingdom since August 7.

The minister said that epidemiological investigation teams took 9,209 test swabs today, raising the number of tests since the start of the pandemic to 828,380.

He called on those who come in contact with infected persons or people receiving alerts to stay in home quarantine until the epidemiological investigation teams arrive to take the tests, indicating that these teams face problems with some who do not adhere to the regulations.
