Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, announced that the city of Sahab (Southeast of Amman) will be isolated as 12pm on Tuesday until the epidemiological situation in the city stabilizes.
"The decision was taken upon the recommendation of the Health Minister and in light of the increasing number of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases reported in the city of Sahab," Adaileh said Monday in a joint press conference at the Prime Ministry.
During the isolation, Adaileh noted, the curfew hours inside the city will start from 8pm until 6am, while educational facilities, markets, parks and mosques, will be closed.
He also indicated that the King Abdullah Industrial City in Sahab will continue to operate, while entering and exiting the industrial city will be permitted according to a traffic mechanism that provides a path by which passing through the city will be avoided, explaining that the Covid-19 crisis cell will detail the traffic plan, as the city residents will be prohibited from entering the industrial city.
Adaileh also announced that the isolation on the northern city of Ar-Ramtha will be lifted starting Tuesday, due to the improvement and stability of the epidemiological situation in the city.
"The government and the concerned bodies are still assessing the need to impose a full curfew on Friday August 28, and in case the decision was taken, it will be announced 48 hours prior to its implementation, to avoid confusion as much as possible," the minister underlined.
"Jordan has entered a new wave of confronting the coronavirus pandemic, and the way to prevent the spread of infections and counter the virus is to adhere to public health and safety measures, especially: washing hands, wearing masks and distancing," Adaileh added.
Responding to a question on re-imposing full curfew and its impact on citizens, Adaileh said that the new government's strategy doesn’t include total lockdowns or imposing a full curfew at the Kingdom’s level, but rather at the level of governorates or areas where cases are spreading, and for one day, which is Friday if needed.
