30 Covid-19 cases, including 28 local infections, reported on Monday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Thirty new infections with the novel the coronavirus (Covid-19), including 28 local cases, were reported on Monday in the Kingdom, bringing the caseload since the outbreak of the pandemic to 1639, the Health Ministry announced.

The new infections include 2 people arrived from Saudi Arabia and the United States, while the local infections included, 20 cases in Amman for contacts of previously infected persons and 5 infections from unknown source and are under investigation, and 3 Zarqa governorate, Health Minister, Saad Jaber, said in a joint press conference at the Prime Ministry.

He indicated that 320 local Covid-19 cases were recorded since Friday, August 7, while 15 cases of recovery were reported and 296 cases are still under treatment.

Also, Two deaths were recorded, one of them for a 99-year-old woman and a man of an Arab nationality who arrived in a private jet while suffering form a bad health condition, noting that the investigation teams conducted 7,468 tests on Monday, bringing the total number of tests since the start of the pandemic to 752,568.

Jaber stressed that the epidemiological investigation teams are exerting three times the effort required to move, transport samples and follow up on contacts of infected persons, expressing appreciation for the tremendous efforts made by medical teams and laboratories, who rotate 24 hours a day.

In response to a question on the Emirati vaccine and the participation of volunteers from Jordan in this experiment, Jaber confirmed that Jordan is participating scientifically in the UAE experiment with 500 volunteers in the third phase, and a number of Jordanian epidemiologists are evaluating the vaccine and its impact.

The Health Minister pointed out that Jordan has signed agreements with a group of British and US companies that have reached advanced stages in the production of the vaccine, in addition to communicating with the Russian government and obtaining sufficient information about the Russian vaccine.

In addition, Jaber indicated that the approved procedures to reopen the airport are set , awaiting a decision at the state level, noting that the approval of countries ’evaluation according to green, yellow and red colors is updated every two weeks according to the epidemiological situation in those countries.

The minister explained that talking about a specific stage of the virus is not important, as the key is the nature of measures followed in countering the virus, indicating that the efforts made and the commitment of many citizens have worked to flatten the epidemic curve with the possibility of reaching the zero state again.

With regard to the matrix, the minister said that the government has overlooked it and eyes the citizen's economic and social interest while ensuring their health and safety.

He called on citizens to avoid gatherings, events and celebrations that violate instructions, and to abide by physical distancing, wearing masks and using sterilizers, in addition to downloading the Aman app, which helps epidemiological investigation teams to identify contacts of infected cases.
