4 infections with Covid-19, including 29 local cases, were reported in Kingdom on Saturday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Forty four new infections with the novel the coronavirus (Covid-19), including 29 local cases, were reported on Saturday in the Kingdom, bringing the caseload since the outbreak of the pandemic to 1576, the Health Ministry announced.

The new infections include 2 truck drivers, who tested positive with the virus at the Al-Omari border crossing, 13 cases for people arrived from Qatar, Oman, Turkey and the United States and were residing in quarantine-designated hotels, 28 cases in Amman, 25 of which for contacts of previously infected persons and 3 infections from unknown source and are under investigation, and one case in the northern governorate of Mafraq for an employee at the Jaber border crossing, who was put under quarantine several days ago, Health Minister, Saad Jaber, said in a media briefing at the Prime Ministry.

The Health Minister indicated that 263 local Covid-19 cases were recorded since Friday, August 7.

Additionally, about 9,000 Covid-19 laboratory tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 737273, according to Jaber.

Jaber also announced that 6 new cases of recovery were reported, while 291 cases remain under treatment in Prince Hamza Hospital and in quarantine-designated areas in the Dead Sea.

The Health Minister underlined that followed health measures aim to protect citizens, and "every citizen is responsible for the epidemiological situation reaching an excellent state."

He called on citizens to avoid gatherings, events and celebrations that violate instructions, and to abide by physical distancing, wearing masks and using sterilizers.
