Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Salameh Hammad Saturday led top security official on a tour of the Omari and Jaber border crossings to check on the flow of work and measures taken after a rise in coronavirus cases at the border posts.

During the inspection tour with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, Director of General Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Ahmad Hosni and Public Security Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, Hammad noted His Majesty King Abdullah's directives and his keenness to provide the best protection and prevention means for the society, which require more efforts and reviewing all measures to counter the epidemic and prevent the transmission of infection.

He said that since infections with the virus appeared among the employees of Omari and Jaber border crossings, the government and security agencies had taken prompt measures to control the epidemiological situation and firmly enforce these regulations.

The Minister stressed that all the measures are meant to protect travelers and staff at the two crossings with Saudi Arab and Syria "in a manner that guarantees the continuity of work and provision of the highest levels of health protection."

Hammad said that freight and customs facilities at the border crossings will be urgently rehabilitated to ensure that workers will not mix with arrivals and departures, as well as increasing the number of quarantine caravans inside the Omari border crossings along with other administrative and health measures.

He ordered zero tolerance with violations or failure to abide by regulations and health rules.
