PM : Government appreciates epidemiological teams' efforts to curb Covid-19

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, expressed the government's appreciation to the "great and exceptional" efforts made by the epidemiological investigation and health teams in conducting tests to detect Covid-19 infections and track contacts "quickly and efficiently," as an important link to face the pandemic's threat.

Speaking during a meeting on Wednesday with a number of Ministry of Health doctors working in the epidemiological investigation teams, Razzaz said Jordan has "successfully" dealt with the first wave of the pandemic thanks to the efforts of these field teams.

Razzaz expressed confidence in the ability to mitigate repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic on citizens thanks to high professionalism, commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders.

In this regard, the PM stressed His Majesty's directives to maintain "stronger" cooperation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Razzaz stressed the need to prepare "for the worst scenarios" regarding the epidemiological situation, especially as Jordan is not isolated from the world and neighboring countries that have entered the second wave by recording large numbers of Covid-19 infections.

Moreover, Razzaz stressed the importance of integrating modern technology and data science in carrying out epidemiological investigation operations, tracking infections, and discovering Covid-19 hotspots.

The PM pointed to the importance of implementing "Aman" app in this regard, due to its ability to alert contacts with the patients, which enables the teams to directly track infections and break the chain of infection quickly.

For his part, Minister of Health, Sa'ad Jaber, who attended the meeting, referred to the "vigorous field work" carried out by the epidemiological investigation teams track and contain infections and break the chain of infection "quickly and efficiently."

Jaber underlined the "great" speed that the Ministry of Health has developed its capabilities in the field of carrying out Covid-19 tests.

In this regard, the Ministry used to conduct 500 tests at the beginning of the pandemic, and now about 7 thousand tests are administered, according to Jaber.
