Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Sunday said the Kingdom's current epidemiological status requires utmost vigilance and strong commitment to health safety measures, especially as many world countries are currently suffering from a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a weekly address to the nation, the prime minister called on citizens to take the issue "very seriously", saying: "Your commitment in the past period is what brought us to the wonderful level that we have reached, and we do not want to go back or enter a second wave."

Razzaz said his government is adamant on tightening control on all border crossings to protect staff and prevent community spread, noting that his visit to the Omari border crossing yesterday was meant to ensure the delivery of quality services and speed up infrastructure works.

Speaking on public health and particularly a recent mass poisoning incident in a northern Amman town, the prime minister said a committee probing the incident will publish its findings in the next 24 hours.

On the new academic year, Razzaz said the students will return to schools on September 1st, "but what will change is the procedures related to occupational safety and health," noting that the ministry of education has completed a related safety manual for student and teacher's use.
