Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said the security apparatuses will implement the "strict" instructions on barring gatherings exceeding more than 20 people, and penalties will be imposed on violators, when results of the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) are announced next Saturday.

Speaking over phone to a number of local radio stations on Thursday, he called on the Tawjihi students and their families to avoid gatherings, in a bid to prevent a setback at the epidemiological level.

The local infections recorded during the past days prompted the government to take "stricter" measures, including activation of Defense Order 11, in order to protect the society health and avoid a Covid-19 outbreak, similar to what has happened in neighboring countries, according to Adaileh.

Laxity in implementing public health and prevention instructions is a reason to the increase in local Covid-19 infections during the past days, he noted, adding the government agencies are "able to control and curb a virus outbreak."

In this regard, he said Jordan can restore control over the disease and see local infections decline as in the past through the public's commitment to safety instructions and standards within two weeks.

On reinstating lockdowns, he said such a measure has "great" economic, social and psychological "cost," and the decision to impose the curfew has not been studied and no decision has been taken yet in this regard.

On the new school year, he said the actual beginning of the first semester is scheduled on the 1st of next September, and the learning will be at schools, hoping the epidemiological situation until that date will be "reassuring and under control."
