Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan on Monday condemned the Israeli government's new plans to build more illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories in a move that would further undermine peace prospects.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi slammed the Israeli government's announcement to build new illegal settlements in Jabal Mukaber, Qalandiya and the Old City of Hebron, and said the move is a flagrant violation of international law.
The minister stressed that Israel's settlement construction is illegal and illegitimate under international law, urging the international community to shoulder its legal and ethical responsibility and oblige Israel to abide by the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2334.
Safadi warned that Israel's continued illegal settlement construction undermines the two-state solution which is the only way to resolve the conflict and "kill" any prospect to bring about comprehensive and lasting peace.
