Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, stressed the important role of the political parties in developing political life and deepening democracy.
During his meeting with the general secretaries of political parties on Wednesday, Razzaz stressed the importance of enhancing the role of political parties in boosting a culture of pluralism, dialogue and acceptance of the other.
During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Musa al-Maaytah and Minister of State for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghunaimat, Razzaz said: "political reform is not and will never be separated from economic reform and should proceed in parallel".
Razzaz noted political reform requires legislation, and broad participation in the democratic process, stressing that political parties should be at the forefront of efforts to move the political life to a larger prospect.
The prime minister stressed the government's commitment to developing legislation governing political reform, saying: the government has launched a true dialogue today on the development of decentralization.
Party activity should not be limited to the political aspect, and should include interest in the decentralization project, which enhances the participation of citizens in decision-making process and the setting of priorities, he pointed out.
He pointed out that the unprecedented interest of citizens in public affairs is an opportunity for political parties to attract young people and form a leverage for constructive political action.
On the tobacco factory issue, he said the repatriation of the fugitive Awni Mutee aims to achieve justice under the umbrella of law, "which we trust and respect".
He pointed to the "legitimate" inquiries of citizens for months about the fate of Mutee, stressing that the circumstances of his manhunt and the nature of intelligence, security and diplomatic work prevented us from revealing details in a timely manner.
He said King Abdullah's efforts succeeded in overcoming some of the basic obstacles in extraditing Mutee.
