Ammon News - Minister of Youth Yazan Shdaifat and Irish Ambassador to Amman Marianne Bolger on Sunday inaugurated an outdoor sports club at Al-Hassan Youth City in Irbid, funded through a grant from the Irish Embassy.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Shdaifat highlighted the project’s role in fostering a culture of sports and fitness by providing an open environment for physical activity.
He noted that the facility allows thousands of people to engage in walking, jogging, and exercising using modern outdoor fitness equipment.
Bolger expressed her pleasure in visiting Irbid, emphasizing that the club offers an ideal space for individuals of all ages to engage in physical fitness activities. She also noted that the inauguration coincides with Ireland’s National Day, observed on Monday.
Director of Al-Hassan City Omar Azzam stated that the club, equipped with 32 electricity-free exercise machines, reflects the strong Jordanian-Irish ties. Designed to accommodate various weather conditions, the facility includes shaded areas to protect users from the sun and rain.
He added that the club is open to individuals aged 14 and above, with plans underway to establish a designated area for young children accompanied by their parents, creating a comprehensive sports environment for families. Petra
