Senate president highlights strong ties between Jordan and Spain

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Senate President Faisal Al Fayez highlighted the strong political, economic and cultural ties between Jordan and Spain.
At a meeting with a Spanish Senate delegation, Al Fayez said that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is keen to forge closer ties with Spain and build on these ties to serve the interest of both countries as well as issues of common interest.
The Senate, he added, is interested in working with the Spanish Senate to further enhance parliamentary, economic and political relations and activate agreements between the two countries.
Al Fayez also reviewed the current situation in the region, adding that Jordan has been adversely affected by developments in Iraq and Syria but preserved its security and stability thanks to the political wisdom of His Majesty.
The Senate president spoke about the economic hardships facing the Kingdom due to the rise in debts, budget deficit and unemployment, and the decline in economic growth, noting that the value of services that have been offered to refugees until the end of 2017 stood at $10.3 billions.
On the Palestinian issue, he said a just and comprehensive solution to this issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions is key to solving all Middle East crises and conflicts.
During the meeting, which was attended by a number of Senate members, the two sides discussed the current situation in the region, repercussion of the Syrian crisis on Jordan's economy as well as the challenges facing Jordan in the energy, water, education, health and infrastructure sectors.
The Spanish delegation praised Jordan's role to preserve security and stability in the region and provide services to the Syrian refugees despite its limited resources.
