Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The General Intelligence Department foiled a massive terrorist scheme after it conducted an intensive and accurate follow-up operation and a preemptive effort, planned by a Daesh-backed cell during Nov. 2017.
The said cell arranged to carry out a trove of terrorist operations synchronously aimed to tamper with national security and ignite havoc and intimation among citizens.
The early intelligence follow-up endeavors led to the apprehension of 17 plotters involved in this heinous operation and seized rifles and other materials prepared to be used in the hideous plan.
Investigations unraveled the cell planners forged an integrated scheme to carry out its atrocity, and conducted surveillance and inspection efforts on the targeted sites, and came up with a mechanism to carry out its belligerence on its targets, which were mainly military and security posts, trade stores, media outlets, and moderate religious leaders.
The cell accomplices sought to guarantee financial backing to procure rifles, a bid achieved by looting a number of banks in the cities Rusaifa and Zarqa and burgling vehicles to be sold out later to ensure necessary funding to perform the terrorist scheme.
The cell colluders also planned to manufacture detonatives using row materials available in the market.
The entire cell colluders were referred to the prosecutor general of the State Security Court, who kicked off interrogation with those apprehended, and were charged of plotting to carry out terrorist acts, promoting ideas of a terrorist group, interfering to execute terrorist acts, and selling ammunitions and weapons set to used in terrorist atrocities.
The arrested will be referred to State Security Court once the prosecutor general caps interrogation measures.
