Army foils drug smuggling attempt

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The northern military command, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotic Department and the Military Security Department late Monday foiled an attempt to smuggle large quantities of drugs into the Kingdom, a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army source said.

The surveillance troops on the northern front line spotted 8 persons trying to cross into the Kingdom from Syria, the army source said, adding that the troops immediately dealt with the situation in accordance with the rules of engagement and forced the infiltrators to flee back into Syria After searching the area, 50,000 Tramadol pills, 1.62 million Captagon pills, 49 palm-sized sheets of hashish and ammunitions were found in the area and were referred to concerned authorities.
