Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A man wanted on charges of drug abuse and other offenses was killed on Tuesday in a shooting with security forces in the city of Aqaba, according to a Public Security Department (PSD) statement.

It said a security force came under a hail of gunfire during an ambush to arrest two suspects wanted on charges of drug abuse, theft and possession of arms in the Red Sea port city.

It said the security force returned the fire, fatally wounding one of the suspects, who later died in hospital, and the other remained at large. It said no members of the police force were hurt.

The statement said police recovered an automatic weapon and live ammunition at the scene.
