Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs and Minister of Education, Mohammad Thunaibat, and Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, on Wednesday, discussed ways of developing relations between Jordan and the ISESCO.

Thunaibat highlighted the impacts of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan, especially on the education and health sectors, as the Kingdom is currently hosting more than 1.3 million refugees.

He said the increasing number of Syrian students has affected Jordan's educational process development, in terms of classes overcrowding, maintaining schools and teachers' training.

The minister called on the international community and organizations to support Jordan's efforts, to fulfill its humanitarian duty and provide quality educational services to Jordanian and Syrian students.

Thunaibat briefed Altwaijri on actions taken in preparation for Amman, the capital of Islamic culture in 2017 celebration.

Altwaijri said his visit to Jordan is part of his participation in the 17th General Conference of the Royal Aal- al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, in addition to meeting with minister Thunaibat, discussing relations between Jordan and the ISESCO.

He also tackled ways of providing support to the Ministry of Education, from multiple parties, either within the framework of joint Islamic action or within the international community.

ISESCO's Director General commended the Ministry of Education's efforts in providing educational services for large numbers of Syrian, Iraqi, Libyan, Egyptian and other students.

He also expressed his sincere thanks to the Kingdom for its sustained support to ISESCO and its interest in stepping up its efforts as part of joint Islamic action.
