Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Monday, honored scholars participating in the 17th conference of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, in recognition of their services and role in defending Islam and clarifying its true image.

The conference is being held in Amman on chronology of events in Prophet Mohammad’s life.

At a ceremony held at the Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by HRH Prince Ghazi, the King’s Personal Envoy and Adviser for Religious and Cultural Affairs,
and the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, the King bestowed medals upon a number of scholars and handed others the institute's membership certificates.

Director General of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought Minwer AL-Meheid said in remarks during the ceremony that the 17th conference of the institute brings together an elite of Islamic scholars, who came from various countries within efforts to serve Islam and Muslims.

The three-day conference is held with the participation of 85 scholars representing Islamic institutions from Arab, Islamic and foreign countries.

The Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought is an international Islamic non-governmental, independent institute headquartered in Amman.

The purpose of the institute is to serve Islam and humanity at large. Among its objectives are: promoting awareness of Islam and Islamic thought, rectifying unsound ideas and misconceptions about Islam, highlighting the Islamic intellectual contribution and its impact on human civilization and deepening the dialogue and fostering cooperation between the schools of Islamic jurisprudence.
