Policeman injured in hunt for dangerous wanted man

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A member of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was injured early Tuesday after being shot in the hand during a raid carried out by security forces to capture an outlaw in Ma'an governorate, 220km south of the capital, an official statement said.

According to a statement by the Public Security Directorate (PSD), the CID personnel was transferred to a hospital, where he was reported in fair condition.

PSD statement said that CID agents planned an ambush to capture the outlaw, who is wanted for 34 criminal cases, after receiving a tip- off saying he is armed and driving a car with another man.

The patrol tried to stop the criminal car, but he refused to comlpy with the orders and opened heavy fire fire at the policemen.

Following a hot pursuit, police were able to stop the vehicle and detain the suspect and another man that was also in the car, the statement added.

The two suspects were injured and transferred to the hospital, where they were reported in fair conditions.
