PM stresses govt support for Anti-Corruption Commission

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Sunday reiterated the government's full support to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and its efforts in addressing all cases of corruption, regardless of perpetrators and transferring them to a just judiciary.
During a visit to the ACC on Sunday to congratulate its president Mohammad Allaf and members for assuming their positions, the prime minister also stressed the importance of the ACC's roles and duties, not only in the field of protecting public money, but also in maintaining the country's security and stability and promoting social peace.
Ensour told the ACC president and members that they were helping the state in strengthening its power and prestige and upholding the rule of law.
The prime minister said most countries in the world suffer form corruption, but noted that its is absolutely unacceptable in Jordan, in light of the difficult financial and economic conditions.
He called upon the ACC to reject nepotism in corruption cases filed by commission.
ACC president, Mohammad Allaf, said the ACC was founded in 2008 and achieved major success, in connecting with relevant international organizations to fight corruption and promote transparency.
He pointed out that the ACC's biggest success that has been achieved is manging to help the Kingdom advance 10 ranks on the Corruption Perceptions Index, issued by the Transparency International.
Allaf pointed out that the Commission is now working on a new 10-year strategy, focused on awareness and prevention and creating a national culture of rejecting corruption.
ACC president added that the commission is about to be merged the Ombudsman Bureau.
