King: Terrorism remains biggest regional and international challenge

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday said that terrorism remains the biggest regional and international challenge.
The King made the remarks during a meeting with Spanish political, intellectual and academic figures, where he briefed them on the challenges facing the Middle East as well as the latest developments at the international level.
During the meeting, which was hosted by the Spanish Monarch Felipe VI, King Abdullah underscored the need to intensify regional and international efforts to fight terrorism and extremism, which are the biggest challenges to the international community.
On the peace process, King Abdullah urged the international community to intensify its efforts to solve the Palestinian-Israeli, according to the two-state solution. Jordan, he affirmed, refuses all Israeli provocations and violations in the Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
"Failure to achieve peace in the region will nurture violence and extremism there," King Abdullah said.
The meeting touched on the Syrian crisis, where the participants underlined the importance of finding a political solution to the crisis. They also reviewed a recent meeting on the Syrian crisis, which was held in Vienna.
The Spanish monarch, on his part, praised the leading role played by King Abdullah and his moderate voice and wisdom in dealing with challenges.
King Abdullah, he said, exerts huge efforts to the moderate and tolerant image of Islam, while describing King Abdullah as a global leader who addresses various challenges.
Meanwhile, the Spanish political figures, intellectuals and academicians praised the King's vision towards various issues as well as his efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.
