Ammon News - AMMONNEWS -His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Wednesday, patronized the ceremony held by the Armed Forces on the occasion of Independence Day, Coronation anniversary, the Great Arab Revolt and Army day.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was received by His Majesty the King's Advisor for Military Affairs and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mashal Mohammad Al Zabin and senior army officers. The ceremony was attended by a number of royal family members and senior civic and military officials, in which the Hashemite standard was the first to enter the venue among other flags, and was handed over to the army, yesterday, at the solemn celebrations.
Zabin, who delivered a speech, said the Arab Army has always defended this nation and has one belief, that in the Arab nation, adding that in every nation's battle, our army was in the forefront to safeguard our brothers, in particular the battles in Palestine.
Zabin also said, "Wherever you look, you will see our army with unwaveringly supporting Jordanians and neighbours as well," adding that this army is the keeper of dignity and the carrier of Islam's message since the foundation of the Jordanian state.
At the end of the ceremony, His Majesty the King conferred upon a number of military officials decorations in recognition of their big achievements. These included Col. Mohamamd al-Raqadd and Major Samah Tawalbeh who were honoured for their scientific contributions in the health sphere.
His Majesty also conferred upon the parents of the two pilot martyrs decorations. These included Col. Ibrahim Hassonah and Captain Muath Kassasbeh, in recognition of their sacrifices while performing their duty towards Jordan.
