Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The European Union's relations with Jordan will always remain strong, head of the EU delegation to the Kingdom Ambassador Joanna Wronecka said.
During a ceremony held on the occasion of "Europe Day "on Sunday evening, Wronecka added that the EU is proud of its close relationship with Jordan---a country that is successfully promoting democratic reforms and economic modernization.
She praised the reform process being carried out by the Kingdom during a time when the Arab world is witnessing numerous crises and challenges.
The EU ambassador also appreciated Jordan's role in hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, despite its limited resources, noting that the EU had granted some €500 million in aid to support the communities hosting refugees.
She also pointed out that the Union had expanded its areas of cooperation with Jordan, which has enjoyed "advanced status" since 2010, by signing a number of agreements, such as the partnership in the field of transportation, which aims to ease the movement of citizens and their visits to EU countries.
The year 2015 is a special one for the EU due to celebrations of the "European Year for Development." The event reflects the efforts of EU countries to ensure the highest standards of living for its citizens and raise global living standards.
