Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Jordanian-Syrian duty free zone returned to normal operations on Sunday, after armed Syrian groups withdrew from the zone and handed it over to a civil administration.

The zone’s director general, Khaled Rahahleh, said that a number of investors continued to take out goods from the zone, in accordance with new measures that have been put in place to facilitate their work and the movement of goods from the free zone to domestic and overseas markets.

Rahahleh noted that 245 Jordanian trucks exited the zone since the beginning of the crisis, loaded with about 5,140 tons of wood, iron and processed goods, and are now operating without delay.

Further, several reliable sources said yesterday that the al-Nusra Front group withdrew from the joint area at the Syrian-Jordanian border days after withdrawing from the border gate at the Nasib border crossing with Jordan.

Last Wednesday, Jordan closed its Jaber border crossing with Syria for security reasons.
