Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Hussein Majali on Sunday briefed the cabinet on tension along the Jordanian-Syrian border where the Kingdom closed its Jaber crossing last week after Syrian rebels seized the Nassib post on the other side of the frontier.
Majali said the situation "is normal and under control" at the border crossing as the Jordan Armed Forces and security bodies were doing their utmost to keep the situation calm.
Also, during today's cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, gave a briefing on the evolving situation in war-torn Yemen.
Judeh told the cabinet that his ministry was in close coordination with Saudi authorities and the Jordanian embassy in Sana'a to get all Jordanians out of Yemen, adding that 145 Jordanians had so far been evacuated.
"Work is underway round the clock to secure the safety of Jordanians in Yemen and ensure their life is not exposed to danger and that all measures are taken to have them evacuated from there," he said.
The cabinet also discussed a host of domestic issues, including rampant violations against forests, particularly in the northwestern Ajloun mountain region, and asked the ministries of interior, agriculture and justice to take serious measures to protect forests and stop illegal logging.
