Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - USAID Jordan Competitiveness Program and EDAMA Tuesday announced partnership to train Jordanian female engineers to become internationally certified in the clean energy sector.

During its second Clean Energy cluster meeting, the USAID Jordan Competitiveness Program (USAID-JCP) and the Association for Energy, Water and Environment (EDAMA) announced a special partnership to support Jordanian women working in the clean energy sector. Through this partnership USAID JCP will support the participation of up to 10 female engineers in any of the certified courses offered by EDAMA during 2015.

For those female trainees that pass the certification exam, this opportunity will encourage women employment and career development within the clean energy sector.

Through its Association of Energy Engineers Jordan Energy Chapter, EDAMA has offered several internationally certified training courses including Certified Energy Manager, Carbon Reduction Manager and Renewable Energy Professional.

"The signing of this agreement is aligned with EDAMA’s objective of providing a suitable environment for the green economy to thrive through supplying the Jordanian labor market with qualified people, particularly females, who are able to develop and commercialize Jordanian technologies in the clean energy sector. "Jordanian women are able to prove their competency in various sectors, especially in the energy sector, when given the opportunity and the appropriate tools, among which is specialized training," said Yara Abdel Samad, CEO of EDAMA Association.

"USAID JCP is committed to supporting Jordanian firms working in the Clean Energy sector to grow and compete in such a dynamic market. Our gender strategy emphasizes the role of women as drivers for change in all of our knowledge economy sectors" Project Director Anne Simmons Benton said .
