King flies back home after meeting with Obama

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, cut short his visit to the United States following the killing of Jordanian pilot at the hands of the terrorist Daesh organization.

The King met with US president Barack Obama who extended deep condolences to His Majesty the King and the Jordanian people over the killing of the Jordanian pilot. Obama stressed that his country will stand by and support Jordan at these difficult circumstances.

His Majesty the King held separate meetings with US Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry, during which they discussed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the international efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.

King Abdullah also met with new heads and prominent members of several committees of the Congress, and discussed with them cooperation in the political, economic and military fields. They exchanged views on current regional and international issues, particularly the fight against terrorist organizations and anti-extremist ideology efforts.

The King met with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Senate, Sen. Bob Corker, and members of the Committee, Chairman of the Appropriations Committee in the Senate, Sen. Thad Cochran and members of the Committee, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the Senate, Sen. John McCain and members of the Committee, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee in the US House of Representatives, Rep. Mac Thornberry and members of the Committee.

During the visit, the Jordanian government signed a memorandum of understanding with the US government under which the US will offer assistance to Jordan worth $3 billion for the years 2015 to 2017, covering economic, developmental and military aspects.
