Ammon News - (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh said on Tuesday that he had agreed about reaching certain "proper" solutions with Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour to end a 36-day sit-in by the employees of Al Rai and Ad Dustour dailies.

Tarawneh said he discussed the strike with the prime minister after the Jordan Press Association (JPA) appealed to him to intercede with the government to find suitable solutions to the "press crisis," adding that he had agreed with Ensour to meet the journalists' demand for a 16th month salary.

Tarawneh also said a new head of Al Rai board of directors, Mazen Saket, has been appointed and the rest of the board members, including professionals, will be named later in coordination with the Social Security Corporation.
