Ammon News - (AP) - Syrian rebels say they are recruiting fighters in Jordan's Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees despite a ban on rebel activities in the camp by U.N. and Jordanian officials.

On a recent visit, an AP reporter witnessed two Free Syrian Army members with a loudspeaker urging refugees to undergo rebel training. A Muslim cleric distributed papers to worshippers to sign up with rebels.

Rebels told AP they recruited dozens of Zaatari residents in recent months. Abu Jamal Jedouri says he trained 125 recruits from Zaatari at an FSA camp inside Syria. He spoke on condition he be identified only by his nickname for security reasons.

Andrew Harper, head of the Jordan office of the U.N. refugee agency, says if U.N. officials see recruitment taking place, "we will notify the Jordanian government."
