30-04-2013 02:11 PM

Ammon News - WASHINGTON (Petra) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, on Monday participated along with an Arab League ministerial delegation, in a meeting in Washington with US Secretary of State John Kerry .

A statement said that the US side and the Arab delegation, that represented the Arab Peace Initiative follow-up committee, stressed the importance of backing peace efforts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the vision of US President Barack Obama on the "two-state solution", announced in May 2011, by the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders. U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, who attended part of the meeting, hailed the efforts of his Majesty King Abdullah in pushing the peace process forward and holding negotiations to address final status issues.

Talks during the meeting also tackled the vital role of the American administration in supporting the region's peace efforts and speeding up the return of the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiation table.

They also discussed the terms of reference of the peace process, emphasizing that the Arab Peace Initiative forms the basis for ending the conflict and achieving a comprehensive peace along with regional security.

Judeh stressed the importance of the Arab Peace Initiative as a reference for the negotiations, warning that failure to implement it will lead to more unilateral Israeli actions that will undermine peace opportunities.

The Arab delegation, chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem Al Thani, was formed in implementation of the 24th Arab summit resolution, held in Doha last month, to be familiarized with the U.S administration policies after US President Barack Obama won a second term of presidency.
