Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Court of Appeals on Tuesday rejected bail requests to release candidates running for the parliamentary elections who had been detained pending investigation into charges of vote-buying and use of political money.
The court, headed by Judge Qassem Momani, refused the bail requests submitted on behalf of Ahmad Safadi, Mohammad Khushman, and Ghazi Elayyan.
The three candidates are detained at Jwaideh prison for 15 days.
Meanwhile, President of the Salt criminal court, Zaid Dmour, on Tuesday ordered the release of a candidate running for election in the city west of Amman after the prosecutor general ordered his arrest on vote-buying charges, Jordan News Agency Petra reported.
Nidal Hiyari was yesterday ordered to be held in custody accused of buying votes and holding voter identification documents in violation of the elections law.
Hiyari was ordered detained along with two of his relatives by Salt Judge Essam al-Hadid.
His release came a day before Jordanians go to the polls to elect a new parliament.
