Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - King Abdullah II arrived in Ramallah in the West Bank on Thursday in an official visit, becoming the first world leader to visit the occupied territories after the United Nations voted to grant the Palestinian Territories a non-member observer status in the UN general assembly.
King Abdullah will be meeting with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas during the brief visit.
Ambassador of Palestine to Jordan Atallah Khairi confirmed on Wednesday that King Abdullah’s helicopter would land at the Muqataa in Ramallah midday Thursday.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour is reported to accompany King Abdullah along with foreign minister Nasser Judah, Jordanian Royal Court chief Riyad Abu Karaki, director of the king’s bureau Imad Fakhouri and the king’s special secretary.
A delegation of journalists arrived in Ramallah earlier Thursday morning.
