Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) proceeded in repairing traffic lights vandalized during the recent riots and acts of violence witnessed in the kingdom last week in reaction to the government's economic policies.

Head of GAM's Traffic Operations Department Khaled Hadadin said that the cost of repairing traffic lights vandalized in the capital Amman reaches JD 30,000, whereas it may reach JD 50,000 if GAM contracts private sector companies for the project.

Hadadin added that 10 traffic lights were damaged in the capital Amman as a result of vandals stealing manhole covers, which caused water leakages that damaged the traffic lights.

He noted that GAM re-manufactured 1,300 manhole covers after vandals stole the metal covers.

There are 138 traffic lights in the capital Amman, the GAM official noted.
