Ammon News - The Jordanian Marathon Association announced the closure and diversion of traffic on several roads leading to the routes of the Bromine Ultra Marathon at the Dead Sea, on Friday, April 10, in coordination with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and the Central Traffic Department, to ensure the safety of participants and the local community.
This annual event highlights Jordan’s position as a distinguished destination for sports tourism. The race takes place in the Dead Sea area, the lowest point on Earth, and is organized according to the highest international standards to ensure runners’ safety and quality organization.
Roads leading to the race routes will be closed starting from midnight on Friday (12:00 AM) until 1:00 PM. The road after Rama traffic lights toward the Baptism Site triangle will be closed in one direction starting at 12:00 AM. The road from the Baptism Site triangle toward the hotel area up to Amman Tourist Beach will be closed starting at 2:00 AM.
Additionally, the main road leading to the Baptism Site will be completely closed at the same time. The road between the checkpoint and the hotel area will be partially closed starting at midnight, and fully closed from 4:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
The association also noted that this year’s vehicle and bus parking and assembly area will be at the rally maintenance yard opposite the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Dead Sea.
As for alternative routes, citizens heading to King Hussein Bridge can use the Southern Shouneh road from Rama triangle, or via the Dead Sea surface road toward Kafrein Dam and then to Southern Shouneh. The Baptism Site can also be accessed through back roads from the farm areas. Additionally, the hotel road can be used cautiously in both directions from Rama triangle to Amman Tourist Beach, and the Dead Sea Panorama–Madaba road can be used by those coming from the south toward Amman.
The event includes three main races: the 50 km Ultra Marathon (individual/relay) and the 21 km Half Marathon, both starting at 6:00 AM from near Amman Tourist Beach. The 21 km race for people with disabilities starts at 6:10 AM from the same location, while the 10 km race begins at 9:00 AM, starting 2 km past the Baptism Site triangle.
The association emphasized that these traffic measures are in place to ensure the highest levels of safety and urged citizens to follow official instructions and use alternative routes to avoid congestion.
