Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) anticipates that the influx of Syrian refugees into Jordan will increase substantially in the upcoming months, with over 200,000 extra refugees expected to cross into Jordan.
UNHCR Representative in Jordan Andrew Harper expected the total number of Syrian refugees in Jordan to rise to 400,000, Al Ghad daily reported.
Harper said that UNHCR is planning accordingly in preparation of hosting the increasing number of refugees, especially as "we do not see an end in the horizon for what is happening in Syria," he said.
The number of Syrian refugees that fled Syria into neighboring Jordan since the beginning of the conflict last year reached 239,000. There are over 40,000 refugees hosted in Zaatari camp in Mafraq, near the eastern Jordanian border with Syria.
