Jordan U20s face Afghanistan in Asian Cup Qualifiers opener

Ammon News - The U20 national football team will begin its Asian Cup qualifying campaign against Afghanistan on Monday, with the match scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. in Bahrain.

The match marks the first of three fixtures for Jordan in the qualifying group. The team will face host Bahrain at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday before wrapping up its campaign against Tajikistan at 5 p.m. next Sunday.

Jordan has named a 23-player squad for the qualifiers: Mohammad Shaloul, Qusai Halahleh, Nour Al-Din Yassin, Omar Khatib, Hussein Thiabat, Ahmad Abu Koush, Omar Mreihil, Ahed Shahadat, Mohammad Bitar, Iyad Amawi, Adeeb Ramadan, Osama Jawhari, Ali Nuaimi, Saud Abu Zeid, Muhannad Mahseeri, Qusai Theeb, Qais Shawashreh, Mohammad Abu Rumman, Mohammad Hindoumeh, Mahmoud Tmeizi, Abdulrahman Zaghaibeh, Malik Bustanji and Nasser Dajani.

A total of 32 teams are competing in the qualifiers, divided into eight groups of four. The group winners will advance to the Asian Cup finals along with the seven best second-placed teams.

Under the competition format, the team finishing last in each group will move to the development stage for the next edition.

China will host the finals for the second consecutive edition, with the tournament scheduled to take place in March next year.
