20-07-2026 03:27 PM

Ammon News - Jordan's national football team dropped 10 places in the latest FIFA World Ranking, falling to 73rd place with 1,350.41 points after a disappointing run of five consecutive defeats.

The team lost friendlies against Switzerland (1-4) and Colombia (0-2) before suffering three straight losses in its historic first appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, against Austria (1-3), Algeria (1-2), and Argentina (1-3).

Jordan was ranked 63rd in the previous FIFA rankings but lost 5.48 ranking points due to its recent results.

The team hopes to improve under newly appointed Moroccan head coach Badou Zaki, who was named yesterday to replace compatriot Jamal Sellami.

Among Asian teams, Jordan ranks 10th, behind the UAE (68th) and ahead of Oman (79th), while placing eighth among Arab nations.

Spain climbed to the top of the FIFA rankings after winning the 2026 World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final. Argentina dropped to second, followed by France, England, and Brazil. Morocco rose to sixth, maintaining its position as the highest-ranked Arab and African team.

Egypt recorded the biggest Arab rise, climbing five places to 24th, while Tunisia suffered the largest drop, falling 12 places to 57th.
