Ammon News - Spanish website "Archivo VAR", which specializes in refereeing analysis, praised the performance of Jordanian international referee Adham Makhadmeh after he officiated the Belgium–United States Round of 16 match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, awarding him a score of 6 out of 10, making him one of the highest-rated referees at this stage of the tournament.
The website described Makhadmeh’s performance as "positive, with no major issues," noting that the Jordanian referee maintained control of the match and did not disrupt its flow. However, it added that his performance was slightly below the level he displayed during the England–DR Congo Round of 32 match, which earned him the opportunity to officiate a Round of 16 fixture.
According to Archivo VAR’s ratings for Round of 16 referees, Makhadmeh shared the highest score of the round with English referee Anthony Taylor, who also received 6/10. They ranked ahead of Michael Oliver (5/10), Ismail Elfath (4/10), Alireza Faghani (2/10), and Ilgiz Tantashev (1/10).
The report added that the Jordanian official delivered a consistent performance throughout the match, which did not feature any major refereeing controversies or significant errors that would warrant criticism. It considered his management of the game to be solid and another positive step in his World Cup campaign.
Earlier in the Round of 32, Makhadmeh received a score of 8 out of 10 from the same website for officiating the England–DR Congo match, an outing that Archivo VAR described as one of the best refereeing performances of the tournament.
