Premium license plates offered in online auction to support student fund

13-05-2026 12:14 PM

Ammon News - The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department has announced an electronic auction for premium vehicle license plate numbers, with proceeds designated to support the University Student Support Fund.

The auction, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Finance under the Vehicle Plates Regulation of 2006 and its amendments, will include a selection of highly distinctive single-, double-, triple-, quadruple- and five-digit plate numbers.

According to the department, registration for participation opened Wednesday through the department’s online platform, where bidders can create accounts, review auction terms and conditions and pay the refundable security deposits assigned to each plate number.

The electronic auction is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. on May 19, with bidding times varying according to each number listed in the auction schedule.

Officials said refundable deposits paid by unsuccessful bidders will be credited back following the conclusion of bidding on the first plate, allowing participants to continue competing for additional numbers.

Winning bidders seeking to participate in further auctions will be required to submit new deposits.

The department said a 16 percent sales tax will be added to the final winning bid, in addition to a JD25 reservation fee for the plate number.

Under auction regulations, the provisional award to the highest bidder will serve as official notification requiring payment of 10 percent of the total bid value within 10 days of allocation, inclusive of the deposit amount, unless the bidder chooses to pay the full amount immediately.

Successful bidders who complete the initial payment will then have 30 days to settle the remaining balance either in full or through partial payments.

Failure to complete payment within the specified timeframe will result in forfeiture of both the plate number and the 10 percent payment in favor of the Treasury.

The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department said participation in the auction constitutes acceptance of all terms and conditions and noted that the auction is open to Jordanians holding national identification numbers as well as foreign residents with personal identification numbers.
